He said these things in his speech after inaugurating the newly built ‘July Memorial’ at the historic Osmani Garden in Dhaka on Monday.
The Prime Minister said important persons from the government and the opposition were invited to the July Memorial inauguration ceremony. Expressing disappointment that opposition leaders did not attend the event, he said that even if there is distance with the government, they should have come to the event to pay respect to the July martyrs, the injured and those who lost their eyesight.
Tareq Rahman said that because of the sacrifices of the July martyrs and the sacrifices of the injured, many people today have become known as opposition leaders and members of parliament. If they had been present at the event organized in their memory, it would have been understood that the opposition also holds the spirit of July. He also remarked that BNP holds July.
The Prime Minister further said that both the government and the opposition received responsibilities through the votes of the people. Therefore, it is necessary to come out of the politics of blame that the ruling party is not looking after the interests of the people or that the opposition is opposing just for the sake of opposition. He also said that the government is working to change the living standards and fortunes of the country's people.
