Gold being sold at new reduced price today
Gold is being sold at reduced prices in the country's market from today (Tuesday). According to the latest price adjustment decision of the Bangladesh Jewellers Association (BAJUS), the price of gold per bhori has decreased by Tk 3,266.

On Monday (July 6), BAJUS announced the new price of gold in a notice, which became effective in all jewellery establishments in the country from Tuesday.

According to the new price, including VAT, the price of 22-carat gold per bhori (11.664 grams) has been set at Tk 2,25,290. Additionally, 21-carat gold is being sold at Tk 2,15,142 per bhori, 18-carat gold at Tk 1,84,758, and the price of traditional method gold per bhori has been set at Tk 1,50,932.

BAJUS said that due to the decrease in the price of pure gold in the local market, this price adjustment decision has been taken considering the overall situation. The new rate will remain effective until further notice.

The organization further said that VAT will be included in the selling price of gold ornaments. Therefore, VAT cannot be collected separately from buyers. However, wages will be added according to the design of the ornaments. Besides, the previous policy will remain in effect for exchange and repurchase of gold ornaments.

Earlier, on July 3, the price of 22-carat gold per bhori was increased to Tk 2,28,556. With the latest decision, that price has decreased to the current level.

So far this year, BAJUS has adjusted the price of gold a total of 87 times. Among these, the price has been increased 43 times, decreased 43 times, and VAT has been adjusted once.

On the other hand, no change has been made in the price of silver. Currently, 22-carat silver is being sold at Tk 4,899 per bhori. Additionally, 21-carat silver is priced at Tk 4,666, 18-carat silver at Tk 4,024, and the price of traditional method silver per bhori has been set at Tk 3,033.
