On Thursday (27 August), during the question-answer session in the National Parliament, the Foreign Minister said this in response to a question from independent Member of Parliament Rumin Farhana. The session began under the chairmanship of Speaker Hafiz Uddin Ahmed.
In a supplementary question, independent Member of Parliament Rumin Farhana said that Saudi Arabia, Turkey and Pakistan together signed the Makkah agreement on 7 August. What benefit would Bangladesh get if it joined?
In response, Foreign Minister Khalilur Rahman said, ‘The Makkah agreement’ is an internal matter of the Muslim family. It is a measure of self-defense for the world Muslim community. There is no room for concern by others over this. He also said that if Bangladesh receives a proposal to join the Makkah agreement, it will consider it positively.
