The message Prime Minister Tareq Rahman gave at the United Nations
At the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly, Prime Minister Tareq Rahman highlighted Bangladesh's position on various issues including democracy, world peace, Palestine, the Rohingya crisis, climate change, economy, education, health and technology. It was his first speech as Prime Minister at the UN General Assembly.

In his speech, he emphasized dialogue, diplomatic processes and mutual cooperation to resolve ongoing global conflicts. He reiterated Bangladesh's support for the Palestinian people's right to self-determination and the demand for establishing an independent state. At the same time, he mentioned that the solution to the Rohingya crisis lies in Myanmar itself and that their safe repatriation is the permanent solution.

Noting that Bangladesh expects more international support to tackle the impacts of climate change, the Prime Minister highlighted programs to plant 250 million trees in the next five years and excavate 20,000 kilometers of canals across the country.

In the areas of economy and employment, he informed about building Bangladesh as a hub of manufacturing industries, creating skilled human resources, and allocating 50 million dollars for young entrepreneurs and innovators in the current fiscal year. He also highlighted various programs including women's empowerment, social protection and Family Card.

Informing about the highest budget allocation for the education sector and the plan to gradually spend 5 percent of GDP on education over the next five years, the Prime Minister spoke about giving importance to technical and practical education. At the same time, he called for ensuring affordable access for developing countries to artificial intelligence and modern technology.

At the end of the speech, highlighting the conviction ‘Bangladesh First, Bangladesh for All’, the Prime Minister expressed the expectation of building a peaceful, self-reliant and welfare-oriented democratic state.
