Rescue operations still ongoing in rubble, 3,342 dead in Venezuela
In the South American country of Venezuela, the death toll from the powerful twin earthquakes that struck on June 24 has risen to 3,342. At least 16,700 people have been injured in the incident, and thousands remain missing.

This information was reported in a Reuters news agency report on Monday.

The country's Ministry of Information said the La Guaira region was the most affected by the earthquake. Rescuers have so far rescued 6,462 people alive.

According to official data, 856 buildings were damaged in the earthquake, and another 190 structures completely collapsed. Due to the disaster, 17,345 people have become homeless. Emergency assistance has been provided to 86,794 families so far.

To strengthen relief and rescue operations, 4,088 international rescue workers are working in the affected areas. Additionally, 29,567 personnel and 27,482 volunteers have been deployed from the capital, Caracas.

Authorities said that so far, 9,585 tons of food and 669,800 liters of clean water have been distributed among the affected people. Furthermore, 23,820 people have received medical care, and 79 temporary shelters have been set up for the victims.

The United States Geological Survey (USGS) said that on June 24, two powerful earthquakes of magnitudes 7.2 and 7.5 struck Venezuela within just 39 seconds of each other.

The country's Ministry of Information further said that 995 aftershocks have been recorded so far after the main earthquake. As a result, security risks remain in the affected areas alongside rescue and relief operations.
